Celluloid Fountain pens -The ideal one for long-time users. You can write more and more...

Celluloid was invented in 1869. It is formed by treating nitric-cellulose with camphor and alcohol. Its physical properties are simple which makes it easier to employ in the manufacturing process. It softens at 90° C and hardens when cooled. It is so much easier to cast and carve, and to produce it in different colors and patterns; so, it is considered as one of the most famous materials for making fountain pens. It was first used to manufacture fountain pens in the twenties. Waterman Pen Company introduced Celluloid fountain pens in the market after a long gap. As it is unbreakable, light and available in various colors, Celluloid is particularly suitable for the production of pens.

As Celluloid is one of the original organic synthetics made of nitro-cellulose treated with camphor, the slight smell of camphor is the trademark of genuine Celluloid. Celluloid possesses a unique advantage; pens made of Celluloid quickly warm up to the user's body-heat, but do not allow the hand to sweat. It is available in almost any color and it produces great patterns with unique color combinations.

When good quality Celluloid material is used, the fountain pen becomes a substance of great beauty. So it's considered as one of the most graceful aesthetic works in this fountain pen industry. This effect of beauty is brought about by another one of Celluloid's properties. Its close-packed layering is responsible for that effect. It is clearly visible and when you take a view deep into the dark green material, it dazzles with pearl like flecks of color.

The shaft made from Celluloid is solid and tough, and it’s enough to serve as an ink-reservoir; no additional cartridge needed for the fountain pen. Celluloid pens are very attractive, having a translucent, almost jewel-like appearance. The color runs true all the way through a Celluloid pen.
